HOW TO WEAR STRIPES + LEOPARD PRINT
if you’re new around here, you may just be learning of my love for mixing prints – particularly stripes, leopard and florals. they’re all go-to prints of mine that I truly believe are neutral. here are a few tips on ..
how to wear stripes + leopard print
pick a color scheme
when in doubt, stick within a color scheme .. for those who are expert print mixing masters pairing together random colors is an art and is a way of expression. but if you’re new or don’t want to be ‘too’ bold, picking a color scheme to stay within really helps keep your print mixing intentional and cohesive. I chose to use blacks, browns and whites in my look today.
choose an accent print
you’ll notice I’m wearing a striped tee and leopard shoes. the leopard print isn’t as dominant as the stripe and is my accent print in this look. rather than compete, the leopard is a compliment to my entire outfit. a few other ways you can accent is in a handbag, a scarf, a belt, etc.
note the scale of the prints
the leopard print and stripe pattern aren’t necessarily larger or smaller than one another but they also aren’t right next to each other to notice. if you were wearing a floral blouse with a stripe skirt without looking too busy you might choose a dainty floral pattern and a bold, thick stripe to balance it out – or a large scale flower print with a subtle stripe would be flattering as well.
