NEW BOHO / TRANSITIONAL STYLE DINING ROOM INSPIRATION
for years we have had hand me down tables in our dining room and being in our new home we knew we would slowly update the furniture. we are in the kitchen as a family the most and this room is one of the first places that guests come to. Nash and I want to host and entertain friends and family, so this space needed the extra love and extra seating. I’m excited to reveal our updated dining table and chairs. scroll below to see our new boho / transitional style dining room inspiration.
I had been searching for the ultimate dining table and I found quite a few that I loved that featured rattan, light wood tones, simple legs, definitely more mid century mixed with boho vibes. but none of those tables were extendable and we knew with hosting we wanted the option to make our table seat more. this ‘farmhouse’ table we found at World Market is owned by a few bloggers that I follow and I loved it in their photos so we decided to order it (since it can extend and it was so much cheaper than other tables on our radar)
well this table is actually SO much darker in person than it was in even the online website photos .. a little disappointing since I loved the lighter wood tones so much. so beware of that – if you don’t want a honey/dark wood table don’t order it. we decided to just keep it since we didn’t want the hassle of returning and finding a new one somewhere else
3 chairs // upholstered chairs // bench // rug // table // chandelier // pendants
another twist in the design process is that I originally wanted pink velvet chairs but the ones we got were MUCH shorter than expected and my husband felt like a giant sitting in them (I actually put two in my office space instead) and so back to the drawing board – I made mock ups of so many chair options (rattan, black, more pink velvet) and then I came upon this cute bench with matching chairs … I liked the idea of a bench (easy with kids) and doing larger chairs on the ends felt really nice but I wanted to add in more of that boho style somehow
of course my favorite shop Anthropologie was having a furniture sale when I was browsing so I looked at their chairs and just adored these cute wood ones. they have a woven seat and they add just the right touch of boho to this table
overall I’m really happy with how this space came together (I drool over the colors in this rug) and the chandelier was one of the first things we installed in the house before we moved in. mixing styles is something I’m positive I’ll be doing throughout our home because I just can’t pick one favorite style or vibe. I like a variety and so I’m going to have fun while also taking my time finding the perfect pieces for each room
