wearing what I want // an attitude shift

wearing what I want .. how many times do you get dressed and ACTUALLY wear what YOU want. do you dress for the occasion? for the people you’ll be around?

do you feel like you’ve been ‘influenced’ to dress a particular way. I want to feel joy in my clothes. not just wearing what is popular, or what I think is expected of me. I dress casual, I like to get glam, I like rocking flowers but also a band tee. I don’t like to define myself and my style.

how many times do you go to get dressed and reach for your typical shirts and pants that you’re most comfortable in? or how often do you branch out and try something new and maybe unexpected?

have you ever been too afraid to try a trend or an outfit that you had seen on someone you admire?

I love the look of oversized tops tucked into ‘mom jeans’ but have always been too scared to try it. I didn’t know if it was ‘my style’ or very ‘Jensyn’ of me to do so. most of the time people assume I only wear dresses or skinny jeans – which I totally do, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like other styles of clothing.

here I am today to tell you that I WORE THE OUTFIT.

I just straight up didn’t care if anyone liked the look or not. I wore something that I thought other girls looked good in, something that I have been hesitant to try and I just wore it. I looked at myself (multiple) times in the mirror and loved what I was wearing.

my challenge to you is to WEAR the outfit. choose the hairstyle. rock that lipstick. whatever it is that you feel you CAN’T wear, wear it! something I’m really working on this year is doing things for ME. choosing what I want to choose. making my own decisions because they’re what I want. not what I ‘think’ others want me to choose.

I’m really excited about this attitude and I can’t wait to see myself test this in my life going forward. doing things in my life for me, because I want them. nobody else can live this life for me. I’m in charge of my attitude, my choices and I know that little by little – change can happen. I can determine my destiny. and I’ll start by wearing what I want.
