fall is becoming one of my favorite times of the year and with the warm harvest colors, it’s a fun time to decorate for as well. I don’t know if many of us are hosting massive gatherings this Thanksgiving and holiday season but I do feel it’s important to make the holidays feel special and so I’m going to be decorating my table – even if it’s just for my little family of five.

choose a color scheme
I really love playing with colors, so pairing a bunch of shades that are in nature this time of year just makes sense. yellows, oranges, greens and reds are all around us in fall and I wanted to bring that vibrance into my table decor.
using something unexpected such as this gorgeous Courtly Check Practical Pitcher to hold the flowers is a fun way to bring in pattern and make a statement
the flower arrangement is full of berries, leaves and rusty colors. the colors pop against the neutral black and white Courtly Check from MacKenzie-Childs

layering accents
decorating a tablescape can be as simple as layering textures or other colors together to create cohesion and interest on the table. I played with textures using a striped cloth napkin as a centerpiece and used a DIY wooden strand for a few accents. I love this wooden Fish Serving board from MacKenzie-Childs – one side features these incredible hand crafted fish and the other is solid, flip it over and you have 2 unique looks.
pumpkins and gourds are found in nature this time of year and I love how they add interest and a playfulness to the center of the table. I included a pair of salt and pepper shaker foxes for another fun touch.

cohesion + coordination
using MacKenzie-Childs courtly check brings out a boldness in today’s tablescape, the black and white is iconic and feels bright and happy. I love when there is cohesion, but not everything needs to match. you could easily showcase even 1 MacKenzie-Childs piece and it would be a beautiful accent to the plates, serving bowls and other amazing accents you already have.
but know that if you do love a bold look, featuring many MacKenzie-Childs pieces is timeless and captivating – these pieces I’ll treasure forever and one day hand down to my daughters.

final details
things like placemats, table runners, place cards, napkins, chargers, etc. they all come together to create a complete look.
I layered metallic chargers under the beautiful MacKenzie-Childs Flower Market Dinner Plates and topped those with the adorable Courtly Check Enamel Petal Salad/ Dessert Plates. bringing in more color with golden yellow napkins tied in a knot are another way to bring in texture and color to the table.
for something extra festive, you could put in a sprig or leaves or berries into the knot of the napkin – I added a sprig in a few photos .. this detail gives more interest to the plate and is another way to add texture and color.

I hope you enjoyed this post – tips for decorating a stunning fall tablescape with MacKenzie-Childs as much as I did. MacKenzie-Childs has quickly become a brand that I love. from their craftsmanship, to their unique look – I’m in awe.
when I set this all up, I didn’t want to take it down – it’s just so gorgeous. I grew up with my mom setting the table every Sunday and it just made those meals together as a family feel more special.
I’m going to start doing that with my little family. my daughters get so excited to help set the table, cook and do dishes with me – I know it won’t last forever so I’m going to soak it all in while I can. family is so important to me and there is nothing quite like enjoying a wonderful meal together.
do you have any Thanksgiving plans??
