styling a black dress for summer + fall
post in collaboration with Wynsum Wardrobe .. all thoughts and opinions are my own
this black dress is the ONLY black dress I own. I feel like black dresses are typically a ‘go-to’ in most women’s wardrobes but for me, because I wore black for work for 5 years, I stayed far, far away from it! lol but really, I was not about to wear black on any given day I wasn’t working. and if you’ve followed me at all over the course of my blogging years, you’ve noticed how much I LOVE color, mixing prints and wearing lighter neutrals. BUT – enters Wynsum Wardrobe – finding the perfect feminine black dress has changed my mind about wearing black and now I can’t stop thinking of new ways to style this pretty thing!
one of my favorite things about Wynsum is … they ship FREE for all United States orders!Β
I seriously love this because who hates paying for shipping??!!Β
Wynsum’s dresses are beautiful quality and I’m all for finding a pretty, modest dress. if you’re like me and wear dresses on Sunday but also like to wear them throughout the week and for all sorts of occasions – dresses from Wynsum Wardrobe are perfect for you! their selection is STUNNING. on the website you’ll find pretty floral prints, fun stripes and a mix of midi and maxi styles.Β
I knew for this post I wanted to style this black dress two ways, one for summer (because it’s so hot here) and another way for fall (because it’ll be here before we know it) I love having purpose in my closet. clothing that I can wear a variety of ways, to a multitude of events and something that I know I can mix and match with depending on what I’m feeling that day. the Rose dress is that perfect versatile black dress.Β
for summer … I wanted to keep the look simple but also a little more boho. I paired the black dress with black wedges and a neutral hat. I love hats. if I could wear one in every setting I totally would! I think they’re soΒ beautiful and add so much to an outfit.Β adding in color and pattern with a floral bag was the perfect way to offset an all neutral look. of course a little bouquet as an accessory doesn’t hurt eitherΒ

I’ll be honest, I’m not too excited about fall – I just feel like I haven’t had enough pool days, we haven’t gone on any summer vacations, besides my quick girls’ trip to LA a few weekends ago, and I love that in summer the sun stays out late. Β but fall will come. and when it does arrive I’ll embrace it, wearing all the booties and cute sweaters. one thing I do enjoy about fall is all the pretty deep shades of greens, burgundy and blues. these booties I got from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this year and I know they’ll be on major repeat!Β
for fall … I styled the Rose dress with a rustic style bootie, a wide brim hatΒ in a deep green, a denim jacket (a classic wardrobe piece) and my favorite fall bag. a black dress can so easily transition from summer to fall. if you were like me and didn’t have a black dress (how embarrassing?!) just do yourself aΒ favor and get this beauty! then we can be twins!Β
