what is the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?
the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is a sale full of NEW and some exclusive items. most all products are fashion forward – thinking of FALL/WINTER. it’s the best time to grab brands like Paige, Marc Fisher, Sam Edelman, Treasure & Bond, Madewell, etc for a discount!
this Nordstrom sale is different from others because the products are NEW and discounted – most sales only offer sales on products that are older/ out of season. THIS SALE features products that will be coming into season – so if you love shopping ahead – this sale is one you won’t want to miss π
when does it start?
the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale gives Nordstrom card holders early access and depending on your ‘status’ you can shop the deals even earlier than everyone else.
DATES TO REMEMBER!
July 6th – the preview (most if not all products are shown early online) – start making a wishlist!
July 12 – icon status shopping begins
July 14 – ambassador status shopping begins
July 16 – influencer status shopping begins
July 28 – EVERYONE can shop the sale
August 8 – LAST DAY of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (prices go back up 8/9)
what to look for?
like I mentioned this sale focuses on fall/ winter pieces but there are also fabulous home, beauty and fun finds for the whole family (clothes, shoes, toys, baby accessories, etc). I personally shop for just myself, but I’ll be sharing family options throughout the sale!
the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is one of the best sales for finding basics. if you need a new pair of black jeans, neutral boots or a cardigan – you’ll be able to find TONS of cute options!
make a list
throughout the years of shopping this sale I’ve slowly ‘checked off’ things on my list of wants/ needs.
I HIGHLY recommend looking through your closet BEFORE the preview and think about what you could use in your wardrobe – do you need a dark colored dress for fall? updated sweater in a neutral color? winter coat?
I find by making the list PRIOR to viewing the online selection I can stay a tad more focused on what I NEED vs what I WANT and I don’t get as distracted with what everyone seems to be promoting and I buy what I know I’ll actually use vs what seems popular.
my list in the past has included – neutral booties, black over the knee boots, dark denim jeans, burgundy cardigan, moto jacket, neutral flats, cute hat .. and as I see those things if they’re my style and fit within my budget then I buy them from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
I’m to the point now that I don’t have a big list of ‘needs’ now I look for pieces that are more unique and I’m really regretting not keeping this floral blouse and these white booties from last year (they’re on the list this season!)
any extra advice??
- MAKE A BUDGET and stick to it
it’s easy to get caught up in ‘needing it all’ and I get it – I’ve been there! it’s fun to shop and it’s easy to feel like you’re missing out when all these bloggers are promoting and sharing their finds. I even get thinking I don’t ‘have enough’ but that’s certainly not the case.
if you’re shopping the sale I hope you’re buying something that you truly love and want/need!
- IT’S NOT ALWAYS A GOOD DEAL
just because it’s on sale doesn’t mean it’s a good price – look at what the item is – can you find something similar, cheaper somewhere else??? sometimes that’s the case and it’s okay to pass on an item that you feel isn’t ‘worth it’
items I’m personally okay with spending a bit more on – jeans, booties, coats, bags
- BUY IT ALL
this contradicts what I said earlier but hear me out – the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale RARELY restocks items sooooooo if you’re thinking about something – BUY IT.
Nordstrom offers free returns and in my opinion I’d rather buy all the things I THINK that I want because sometimes quality, fit, colors, etc. look different in person and the items you might love online, you won’t love in person and the things you think you won’t love – end up being your favorite things!
