favorite muffin mix + mood boosting tips
we are on WEEK 6 of staying in and keeping ourselves home. a lot of people have been baking (banana bread) lol but we’ve actually been having fun as a family baking muffins using our favorite Utah based, Lehi Roller Mills mixes.
I’ve had to adjust my attitude a little and think that ‘everyday may not be good, but there is good in every day.’ this has helped me a lot in realizing that every single day isn’t going to be smooth and perfect. being home there are so many responsibilities and I think (with good intentions) people are out in the social media world sharing what they are doing to stay busy/ practice good habits.
whether it’s working out, organizing perfectly, learning new skills, coordinating amazing indoor photo shoots, doing activities AND home school with kids, etc. in addition to getting dressed/showering/wearing makeup daily, AND doing all the regular household duties (cleaning, cooking, etc) IT IS A LOT to deal with. especially when on top of that – you eliminate extra friend/family time, group gatherings, sports, restaurants, sickness, loss of jobs.
we live in a strange time and it’s okay to feel sad. people aren’t graduating or attending their last prom the way they imagined. people aren’t getting married with their loved ones around in the way they dreamed or planned. everyone’s life has been rocked by this virus.
our world is dealing with so much and so while I hope my space is one of positivity and can bring some inspiration during these weird times I hope you don’t feel any pressure to do the things I post about if you don’t want to.
that being said, here is the BEST muffin mix and I’m sharing my favorite shoes to get me through this quarantine.
FAVORITE MUFFIN MIX
when looking for something fun to do with my girls one day last week, I came upon my last box of Lehi Roller Mills muffin mix. we baked and ate and had a fun time together.
my daughters love helping in the kitchen and of course we love eating lol and they ate these up so quick. I decided to add the crumble on top (recipe included on the box) but it was funny, as I was trying to think up a yummy muffin recipe I remembered Rachel from Pink Peonies had shared her favorite – go to recipe a while back. when I checked on her post .. I saw that SHE USED THIS EXACT MUFFIN MIX TOO.
so trust us when we say it’s amazing. lol it’s really amazing.
MOOD BOOSTING TIPS
being home has been hard on my self esteem. it’s hard to see on social media what everyone else ‘seems’ to be doing. when I get down about myself or my life – I know I’ve been on my phone too long. so to boost my mood …
I get off my phone.
I go organize/ clean something, even if it’s just doing the dishes or vacuuming – I instantly feel a bit more accomplished.
I get myself dressed. put on a little makeup, do my hair or even a face mask (something for ME)
wearing jewelry and shoes, even if I’m not going anywhere help me feel more put together too. I love Birdies because they’re a shoe that’s secretly a slipper. they’re so cozy and padded, comfortable and pretty.
I play or dance with my girls. we put on music and sing along. it’s a great way to get energy out and not think about anything else in those moments.
on Sunday, we decided to bake cookies and take them to a few neighbors, serving others is a great way to get out of your own head and show love.
I get creative. I do something I love. I make crafts. I watch a movie. I bake. I put together outfits. I paint my nails.
I’m trying to remember that while we may have a ‘new normal’ right now .. we’re all adjusting and if I can do things that help bring me happiness then that is all I can do.
I’m focusing on what I CAN CONTROL and that’s creating a safe space for my family and if that looks like baking muffins together or if that’s movie nights – every night. then awesome!
what’re some ways you are staying home??
