dressed up for the holidays in burgundy
in need of holiday outfit ideas??
dressing up for parties or church is so much fun around the holidays. I love throwing on a burgundy or red lip – I instantly feel so festive and fancy! there’s something special about sparkly shoes, earrings and pretty fabrics that make the holidays the best time of year for unique outfits!
I’m obsessing over the burgundy and pink combination here with my skirt and bag, I really don’t have many small neutral bags – so a hot pink satchel is what we get today – but I actually really love the bright contrast to an otherwise muted and typical ‘winter’ color palette.
in the winter I am extremely pale (without self tanner of course) so with the help of a little bronzer, blush and a bold lipstick – my face looks alive and bright! I think it’s great to switch up from the norm and try new makeup looks. I have so much fun switching up my makeup routine. whether I’m testing new products, or simply swapping out my go-to lipstick shade for something a little more daring – I think it’s good to get out of your comfort zone, especially around the holidays.
here’s a good rule to think about if you’re new to the makeup world, or if you’re just not as gutsy yet … if you have a bold eyeshadow look – keep your lipstick more neutral and if you have a neutral eyeshadow shade – feel free to have fun with color on your lips! this little rule will help when deciding which colors to pair together, so you look polished and professional.
for holiday parties, I love to do a glitter or shimmer eyeshadow look with a bold lip shade, it suits my personality and it’s really fun to have an excuse to get dolled up!
this eyeshadow palette I’m LOVING lately for its’ beautiful array of colors, both matte and shimmer, I’ve been using it everyday for the past few weeks and it has so many options that I keep coming up with new possibilities for color combinations and they all go so well together. it’s a perfect fall/winter palette and it’s only $19!
get my look …
I have always been a fan of fabric, I pay attention to their textures, colors, how they move, etc. so when I saw this polka dot blouse – I HAD to have it! it’s seriously beautiful and I love the little details like the buttons and ruffle shoulders that make it just so much more unique.
pairing this top with a burgundy skirt was a no brainer, they’re both pieces that can be dressed up or down and I love them with my studded heels. I feel comfortable, confident and really pretty in this outfit!
have fun this holiday season with your outfits and makeup looks – so no matter where you’re getting dressed up to go, or if you’re hosting and stay in – you can look and feel fabulous!
